We recently adopted Oliver, a three year old yellow lab. As a rescue dog, Oliver can be a punk at times and we needed help to control some dominant behavior issues and to also help us with basic obedience commands such as “come” and “sit/stay.” We did some research and contacted Blair for help. It turned out to be one of the best things we could have done. With his assistance, the dominance issues are now under control and Oliver has mastered the basics.

As hikers, we wanted Oliver to join us on the trail, so we hired Blair to work with Oliver on off-leash training. The results of the two week training have been amazing! On a recent hike, Oliver was off leash and a family was approaching us on the trail. Oliver came when commanded, and walked at our side as the family passed. We were amazed he could do this without wearing a leash!

Blair Diamond is my new hero!

I called Blair of Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions because I could no longer go on walks with Kane, my boxer, without fear. Kane's aggressive behavior towards other dogs resulted in my falling and breaking a finger which completely shattered my confidence. I have dealt with Kane's aggression for three years, always walking him where and when we were safe.

Blair has helped me see that I had to step up in order for Kane to be balanced while on and off leash. I wasn't giving Kane a chance to interact with other dogs appropriately, therefore, he didn't know how to act. My dog was in Blair's care for two weeks, and continues his intervention with him. I am particularly thrilled with Kane's new ability to walk off-leash, which I could never do unless we were half a mile away from other dogs!

I’ve had dogs all my life and they are one of the best parts of a family. My husband had never had a dog and wasn’t convinced that they could be a part of a family.

We were getting our first puppy together and I wanted to be sure the puppy was well trained and that my husband and I were on the same page with the training process . I wanted to be sure this new addition to the family didn’t create havoc with our marriage.

I have a good friend that I knew really liked and trusted her dog trainer, so she gave me Blair’s name.

My husband and I set up a meeting with Blair prior to the puppy’s arrival and we were both so impressed. We knew this would be the perfect person to help train us how to train our new puppy. Blair helped my husband realize how important consistency and trust are in training and he helped me realize that giving in and spoiling my dogs doesn’t help make the best pet.

I was very impressed with Blair's interaction with the puppy when we brought him home. A few of the techniques that Blair taught us made a huge difference in how our puppy responded. Blair helped us teach the puppy boundaries, explained to us how dog packs operate and gave us some basic tools that made a huge difference.

We left our precious dog with Blair at about 6 months of age to do some off-leash training. I have never had a happier , healthier and well mannered dog. Enjoying a well trained dog off leash is amazing. I am no longer fearful of my dog being out in an open space since I know that I can keep him safe. My dog is delighted to have the freedom of being able to freely explore and run ! I wish all my dogs would have gone through this process.

I recommend Blair to anyone getting a new puppy or folks that are experiencing behavior problems with their older dogs. Blair has a unique way of communicating with people and dogs. He has made all the difference in our household. We have a wonderful pet that doesn’t create havoc with our household. Blair is a constant source of information and support. I am eternally grateful for the assistance, advice and tools that Blair Diamond with Primal Needs has provided for me and my dog family. Before the lessons with Blair my two dogs were leading the pack so to speak and I was constantly worried about them going after other dogs. I did not even really trust them with people on the walks. However, after even just one session I received tools to work with my dogs and actively “rehabilitate” the way we interact with each other and the way they interact with the world on our walks. I now have ways of communicating with them in a more dog-on-dog way that they understand much better and follow my lead more willingly and with a “happy face”. At home the dogs are less crazy and much more relaxed; even friends that would come to visit commented on the change in the animals after just one week of me communicating with them in the way that Blair had shown me. On our walk the dogs would look back at me and check in with me instead of me worrying about where they were and what they were getting themselves into. In short I have changed from being one of the pack to being the pack leader and am able to keep them relaxed, quiet and responsive whether it is at home or on our walk.

In a practical manner I would say that each and every serious dog owner would benefit from a few lessons with Blair in how to communicate with your dog. The relationship between you and your dog will blossom, evolve and reach a new level of trust, companionship, relaxedness and love. When I first contacted Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions, my 2 Jack Russell Terriers were completely out of control. They were fighting often, and the fights were becoming more violent. My older dog would even attack my younger dog while she lay sleeping. I was worried for their safety as well as for the safety of my family. After speaking with Blair the first time I was completely comfortable with his methods, and I was excited to begin my dogs rehabilitation.

During Blair's first visit I was amazed not only watching Blair work with my dogs, but seeing them respond to him. These dogs would only listen if they felt like it before that day. Blair showed us the many ways that our dogs were dominating us and our home. He then gave us the tools we needed to start taking the control away from the dogs, and give it back to ourselves. Aside from the fighting issue, each of the dogs had her own individual issues we needed to deal with. We had so much work to do. Each of the dogs spent time with Blair for some intensive one on one training. Each came home with new found manners. Before working with Blair, my younger dog would bolt out the front door and go running down the street as soon as it was opened. Now she sits patiently waiting for her invitation to go out. She was absolutely crazy in the house. She would jump on us, bite our feet, and jump from the couch onto the kitchen table all the time. Now we actually enjoy having her around, and our feet are no longer her own personal toy. It is safe to put food on the table without appointing a guard to watch it. Our older dog would growl, and show her teeth if we went near her while she was eating. Now when we approach her food bowl she backs away without a sound. Both dogs were terrible on a leash. Our walks consisted of them pulling on the leash the entire time. Now we are able to enjoy our walks. It has been amazing to put into practice what Blair taught us. I love working with them, seeing them respond, and continue to improve. The fighting issue is still a work in progress. Blair was not only great with our dogs, but with us as well. He was extremely patient, and supportive.

Blair Diamond is a cross between Harry Potter and Hagrid (the keeperof magical creatures in the Harry Potter series).   He works some kind of magic with dogs.    Chon, our 40 pound rescued terrier-cross from a kill shelter in Mexico, is an aggressive fear biter.   Before Blair, he had never peacefully allowed a male visitor into the house and only had allowed a few select females.   When Blair came to our front doorfor our first session with him, he told me to hold Chon back on theleash while he entered and walked through the hall to the living room. Within 5 minutes, Chon was calmly wagging his tail and licking Blair's hand.

We had called Blair in a moment of desperation after a year of frustration.  We had tried a number of different methods of training, and nothing had worked quite right for us.   We immediately felt comfortable with both Blair and Blair's philosophy.   His energy is strong and calm and everything he says makes intuitive sense.   As I described above, Chon responded to him beautifully.   He is articulate and personable as he clearly explains not only what we should do, but why we should do it.   His approach is all about the relationship between us (the humans) and Chon.  He helped us to feel stronger and calmer with Chon, which in turn allowed Chon to feel calmer and less afraid around strangers.   After just a couple of months, Chon has shown great improvement.   He is much calmer and more responsive, and just last week he allowed a male relative to not only spend the night in the house, but to play ball with him.  

I would highly recommend Blair to anybody who is seeking help for a dog with behavioral problems.

I first used Blair's services for help with behavioral modifications/training for my doberman puppy.  She was quite active and idiosyncratic and although I have had similar pets for decades I needed help.

Blair was extremely poised, in a low keyed way and immediately established a sort of mystical relationship with my red dobie puppy.  Blair took her to many public places and exposed her to many situations that previously had left her felling very insecure.  They worked through several of Edna's insecurities and the results have been remarkably positive.  He spent several hours with my husband and myself to set limits and curtail her behavior.  As a result of Blairs' intervention and coaching, our feisty puppy is now a one year old with wonderful manners and poise.

Blair also has exercised my two older dogs and made many helpful suggestions regarding their diet.  He has watched our 3 dogs and our home on several occasions while we have traveled.

In short, Blair Diamond is a professional and competent animal behaviorist who is able to form a special relationship with dogs and most importantly, train their owners.  He is a very honorable and trustworthy individual which allows my husband and myself to entrust him with our 3 "prized possessions" and our home when traveling.  We heartily recommend Blair Diamond.
